Q&A: How does SLCCC make its Mission Budget?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

To support the Mission Ministry our church uses an annual Mission Budget. The money spent on the Mission Ministry is not allotted from the church\u2019s general fund (the regular tithes and offerings by the church family). Our Church has been using the \u201cfaith promise or pledge\u201d policy to draft its mission budget.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Around this time of year, our church\u2019s Mission Committee creates budgetary plans for the coming year\u2019s Mission Ministry. During the annual Mission Conference, this committee prints the proposed budget in the handbook along with a faith promise or pledge form. All brothers and sisters will pray for God\u2019s guidance to decide how much to give towards next year\u2019s mission expenses. During and after the Mission Conference, brothers and sisters can write the amount on the faith promise or pledge forms and return the forms to Mission department coworkers. Based on the total amount of all the promises and pledges, our church will know how much mission donations it can expect in the coming year so that a mission budget and financial responsibilities can be decided.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Faith promises are commitments to give a certain amount if the Lord provides. With faith promises, people make commitments to give if the funds are or will be available. It is understood that if God doesn\u2019t provide the funds there is no obligation to give (Hebrews 11:1). Committing to a faith promise is biblical and pleasing to the Lord.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some SLCCC members prefer to pledge a certain amount for the mission fund aside from their personal budget. Pledges are vows, the earnest promises that are guaranteed to be fulfilled. Repeatedly in the Bible the words pledge and vow are used to refer to promises that are binding, regardless of future circumstances or conditions. When we give our word, we are obligated to keep it, just like we are obligated to pay off our debt. Therefore, financial pledges are absolute commitments (vows) to offer the promised amount to God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Whether it is a faith promise or a pledge, offering to the mission budget should be above your regular tithes and offerings to the general fund. It is a test of our faith in God’s provision. As it is written \u201cBring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the LORD Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.\u201d Malachi 3:10<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Regardless of how much you promise to give, we encourage you to promise or pledge the amount based on what you have clearly heard God says to you. Let us all come before Him with prayerful faith and give with a joyful heart!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
